“We gotta get out of this place, if it’s the last thing we ever do…”
- The Animals
Look, I love my family and my home as much as the next guy, but this is getting ridiculous. Sure we can pop out for a quick jog, but the days of dipping into the pub for a few pints and a hit of giggle juice before casserole time are over.
As we sit here and try to figure out how we are living in a world where golf courses, National Parks, and go cart tracks are closed, we have to take our escape plans to a new and creative level. Exploring hillsides, obscure cul de sacs, or wandering the earth like Moses just for a change of scenery. Wherever your no destination travels may take you, I hope you are doing so well prepared, water, flares, and of course a flask of something special. So today, here are my picks for the perfect flask whiskies, just in case you need some motivation or to say cheers to your old drinking buddies from a safe social distance. On the upside, no sharing!

Homemade biscuits drizzled with lavender honey leap forward but remains well structured with assertive orange zest and crystalized sugar. The entry brings more of those warm biscuits but brings a heap of orchard fruits with it, including Macintosh apples, pears, and peaches, the honey seems to be ever present, and shares a sweet stage with milk chocolates. The honey leads the exit leaving traces of meadow flowers and baker’s spice.
The signature charred oak dominates on the nose and with it carries fresh baked bear Claws and Danish, all of which introduces caramel covered apples. The first sip showcases the caramel and oak and carries some tropical fruits including banana and guava before spice wrestles control away and prepares for a stunning finish with more oak, more spice, and sparkling lemon zest.
Springtime fresh with cut grass and geranium that wafts off the top before leading to deep aromas of cocktail nuts and vanilla icing. At entry, more floral aromas are released as the cut grass turns into hay and herb garden flavors with soft spice and a pleasant toasted oak that brings forward coconut husk and reserved vanilla cream. The finish is light and clean, but abandons with a sweet perfume note that lingers enticingly.
